NILES — Kendall Chrismon, of Brandywine, Darrion Gatson, of Cassopolis, and Chris Young, of Buchanan, were named to the Associated Press boys basketball All-State teams, which were released this week.
All were honorable mention selections.
Young, who averaged 15.8 points per game, helped Buchanan go 18-3 on the season. He helped lead the Bucks to the Division 2 district championship game against Dowagiac. That game was never played as the Michigan High School Athletic Association canceled sports due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent stay-at-home orders issued by the Michigan government.
Chrismon averaged 15.7 points per game for the Bobcats, who reached the Division 3 district title game against Cassopolis before sports were suspended and eventually canceled. The Bobcats were also 18-3 this season.
Gatson led the Rangers, and southwest Michigan, with an average of 20.2 points per game. He helped Cassopolis win another Southwest 10 Conference championship, and a spot in the Division 3 district title game against Brandywine.
