Michigan sees more than 200 new COVID-19 deaths

LANSING — The state of Michigan reported more than 200 new deaths as a result of COVID-19 Friday.

The Michigan Department of health and human services reported 1,279 new cases of COVID-19 and 205 deaths Friday as a result of the global pandemic. The total number of cases is now 22,783, and the total number of deaths has risen to 1,281.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, COVID-19 cases had reached 88 in Berrien County, with three reported deaths. Cass County reported 12 cases and one death, while Van Buren County reported 20 cases and one death.

Berrien County reported that of its cases, 44 had recovered from the virus.

Across state lines, St. Joseph, Indiana reported 165 cases.
