NILES — Local golf fans got some good news Thursday when the LPGA Symetra Tour rescheduled the Four Winds Invitational at Blackthorn Golf Club for July 31 through Aug. 2.

The Symetra Tour announced Wednesday the postponement of its next five events.

Besides the Four Winds Invitational, the Symetra Tour moved the IOA Invitational in Georgia, the Symetra Classic in North Carolina, the Zimmer Biomet Championship hosted by LPGA Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez in Opelika, Alabama and the CDPHP Open in Albany, New York.

Additionally, the Symetra Tour canceled the Windsor Golf Classic in Windsor, California until 2021.

“The Symetra Tour is only as good as its partners,” said Mike Nichols, the chief business officer of the Symetra Tour. “We are grateful for IOA, Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, and the City of Beaumont, as well as the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi and its Four Winds Casinos for working with us to find times that work to bring professional golf to their respective regions. They’ve kept the dream alive for players, as there’s no ‘Road to the LPGA’ if there’s no competition. We couldn’t be more thankful for their loyalty to the Symetra Tour and complete dedication to women’s professional golf.”

“We are looking forward to this year’s Four Winds Invitational and are grateful to our partners at the Symetra Tour and Blackthorn Golf Club who were able to reschedule the tournament,” said Matthew Wesaw, tribal chairman of the Pokagon Band, in a released statement. “We are also proud to continue our long-term partnership with Beacon Health System and support their efforts to provide the best possible care to children throughout the region.”
