NILES — A line of people approximately six feet apart wrapped around the Niles Walmart building could be seen from the road Friday afternoon, as new measures were put into place to enforce social distancing guidelines Friday.
Shoppers at Walmart on S. 11th Street in Niles were met with the line upon entry to the store. The new restrictions are the latest in a number of safety measures at the local department store, which include a special shopping hour from 6 to 7 a.m. Tuesdays for senior citizens, an increase in grocery pickup and curbside pickup for pharmacy.
A Walmart associate confirmed Friday afternoon that entry was being limited to the store as a way to help lessen people from congregating in the aisles. Essential items such as toilet paper and sanitizing tools were also being subject to purchase limits, to ensure shoppers were able to get what they needed.
The associate said that these actions were being taken to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
