LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Don’t forget to vote in the primary March 10

Published 8:49 am Saturday, March 7, 2020

March 10 is an important and fast approaching day in Michigan: Presidential Primary Voting Day.

A few things: Only Biden, Sanders and (tecnically) Gabbard are still in the race.

If you turned in an absentee ballot and your candidate isn’t in the race, all is not lost! You have to hurry though. The deadline is 4 p.m. Monday, March 9.

Take a note to your city/township clerk that says something like “I request you spoil my previously submitted absentee ballot and issue me a new one.” Fill it out then and there and turn it in. To find your clerk go to Michigan.gov/vote.

Remember: No cameras of any kind are permitted and voters may not wear or distribute political imagery within 100ft of a polling place. It’s against the law.

Vote if you’re in line when the polls close (8 p.m.).

Vote if you’re a felon, registered to vote and not in jail.

Vote if your name is in the poll book but you have no photo ID. Ask to sign an affidavit.

Vote if your name isn’t in the poll book and if you do not have a photo ID, ask for a provisional ballot.

If you need to bring a helper or friend, that’s OK. Just tell a poll worker.

Exercise your right and fulfill your obligation.

VOTE.
