CASSOPOLIS — The Cass County Council on Aging is now accepting applications from individuals interested in volunteering as members of its board of directors. The COA board establishes policy and provides governance for the organization.
“We want applicants who are knowledgeable about the mission of the COA,” said Marty Heirty, the CEO of the Cass County Council on Aging. “It’s also important that board members are able to consider other points of view, make constructive suggestions and help the board make decisions that benefit those the organization serves.”
Board member terms are three years, with renewal options for another three years, according to Heirty.
Those interested should visit casscoa.org/board for more information and an application. Applications are also available at the front desk of the Lowe Center and Front Street Crossing COA locations. Application deadline is Friday, March 13.
The Board Continuity Committee will review all applications. Selected candidates will be asked to interview with the committee in late March. New members will be approved at the April annual meeting and Volunteer Recognition Dinner. Terms of office begin in May. The Board meets at 8:30 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Edward Lowe Center for the Council on Aging in Cassopolis.
