NILES — A night of romance and comedy will be coming to Niles this weekend.

The Niles Elks Lodge will host its sixth annual Valentine’s Day comedy night on Saturday. Ken Evans and Travis Hargan will present a 90-minute show guaranteed to keep audiences laughing long after the evening ends, organizers said. The $25 ticket includes a gourmet appetizer buffet and dessert bar. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m.

Headliner Ken Evans has an observational style of comedy that relates to people of all ages, organizers said. His energy and visual presentation brings his comedy to life. Evans has appeared on NBC’s “Ed,” “Caroline’s Comedy Hour” and “Last Comic Standing.” He has been a studio guest of the “Bob and Tom Show” and the “Bob and Sherry National Radio Show.” He has opened for and worked with some of the biggest names in entertainment including Joan Rivers, Ellen DeGeneres, Larry the Cable Guy, Ron Shite, Drew Carey and more.

Michigan native Travis Hargan will open for Evans. He fuels young minds as school teacher during the day, then dilutes brain cells as a bartender at night, organizers said. His material has him on the rise in the comedy industry.

“We have worked hard to put together a great evening for everyone and are very excited about our talent,” said Julie Clark, trustee chairman at the Elks. “It’s hard to believe it has been six years. I’m pleased to say that since the first comedy night, we’ve had sold-out shows, and we hope this year is no different. It is the ideal event for people looking for something special to do that is close to home.”

The Niles Elks Lodge is a fraternal organization committed to assisting children and veterans in the community, officials said. The organization regularly supports athletic teams, Project Graduation, South Side Prom, veterans in the area, school education projects, holiday food baskets, Sunday Funday for the special needs community and more. Net proceeds from the event will contribute to the positive work the lodge does in the area, officials said.

Reservations are strongly suggested by organizers. Reserve or purchase tickets at the Lodge, 1322 Canal St., Niles, or call (269) 683-0133 for more information from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
