Homicide suspect arrested in Edwardsburg

EDWARDSBURG — A man wanted for murder in Indiana was arrested in Edwardsburg Tuesday evening, according to the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department.
Chief Doug Westrick reported that at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers received a tip that a suspect wanted for a homicide in Marion County, Indiana, was located in Edwardsburg village limits. Officers from Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department, as well as the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, watched the suspected residence for approximately two hours before the suspect was seen walking across the parking lot of the Marathon gas station. A plainclothes officer with the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department then drove to the parking lot and contacted the suspect as he left the store.
The suspect was arrested without incident and transported to the Cass County Jail where he was lodged on the warrant, Westrick said. The suspect will be returned to Indiana upon completion of extradition paperwork.
The suspect’s identity is being withheld pending arraignment.
