DOWAGIAC — Senior Shawn Little will continue his academic and athletic career at Campbellsville University in Kentucky.

Little, who finished seventh at the Division 2 Michigan High School Athletic Association Cross Country Finals in Brooklyn, Michigan last November, signed his national letter of intent to run cross country and track for the Tigers, who were runner-up at the Mid-South Conference Championship in Bowling Green, Kentucky in November.

“They offered a full ride,” said Little about some of the reasons why he selected Campbellsville. “They have a really good team, and I am really excited to be going there.”

Campbellsville was also the runner-up at the NCCAA National Championships last fall.

Little won back-to-back cross country regional championships for the Chieftains his junior and senior seasons. He was also a two-state All-State runner in cross country and holds the Dowagiac school record in the sport.

He also won the Wolverine Conference cross country title as a senior.

Little visited Campbellsville in September.

“It is really comparable to Grand Valley [State University},” said Little about the campus. “It is a lot smaller, a lot tighter family, and I respect that.”

Heading into his first college cross country season, Little said he hopes to help them qualify for nationals once again.

“I hope to run a 10K within 30 minutes,” he said.

Little will study sports management at Campbellsville.
