Jordan Simpson is a sophomore on the Dowagiac wrestling team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
JS: Winning conference my freshman year in wrestling.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
JS: Losing regionals by one match and not making it to state my freshman year.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
JS: My brother, Duan, because he pushes me to be my best at everything.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
JS: Right before a match begins.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
JS: Losing to the Vicksburg kid when I was up 8-3.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
JS: I run a lot.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
JS: Soccer.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
JS: They keep me out of trouble and I meet new people.
How would you give away $50,000?
JS: I would give it to help people in need.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
JS: The Michigan wrestling team.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
JS: Work out all the time.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
JS: Wrestling kids that are ranked in the state.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
JS: Nothing.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
JS: That I have a chance to win state.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
JS: Riding a roller coaster. Yes I’m glad I did, because I had a good time.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
JS: When my brother took a half-court shot and made it.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
JS: Being on my phone, because I’m talking to my friends.
