ROUNDUP: Dowagiac wrestlers 2-2, Rangers top White Pigeon

MENDON — The Dowagiac wrestling team went 2-2 at the Mendon Invitational on Saturday.
The Chieftains defeated Paw Paw and St. Joseph, but were beaten by Battle Creek Harper Creek and the host Hornets.
Going undefeated on the day were Jordan Simpson (103), Lamberto Paredes (160) and Mike Schlup (215).
Dowagiac returns to the mat Wednesday as it travels to Plainwell for a Wolverine Conference quad.
Cassopolis basketball
CASSOPOLIS — The Rangers remained undefeated in the Southwest 10 Conference with a 77-62 win over visiting White Pigeon Friday night.
Cassopolis (4-1, 4-0 Southwest 10) led 24-14 after the opening quarter, but only 38-32 at halftime as the Chiefs rallied in the second quarter.
The Rangers outscored White Pigeon 39-30 in the second half to earn the victory.
Cassopolis’ R.J. Drews scored a game-high 25 points, while Jerry Johnson added 19 and Darrion Gatson 16.
Stone Kemp had 17 points for White Pigeon, which also got 15 from Chris Jackson and 12 from Daniel Jackson.
Cassopolis girls basketball
CASSOPOLIS — The Rangers were not as fortunate in the girls contest as they dropped a 40-38 decision to visiting White Pigeon Friday night.
After trailing the Chiefs 10-4, Cassopolis rallied to cut the White Pigeon lead by halftime, and then outscored the Chiefs in the third quarter to take a 28-27 advantage into the final eight minutes of play.
Angel Gary led Cassopolis with 18 points, while Jadin Wolfe added eight.
Claycee West had a game-high 22 for the Chiefs.
