SOUTH HAVEN — Visiting Dowagiac swept a pair of Wolverine Conference wrestling matches from Paw Paw and South Haven Wednesday night.

The No. 8-ranked Chieftains defeated Paw Paw 51-28 and the Rams 33-31 to improve to 10-4 overall and 2-1 in conference action.

Winning two matches on the night were Jordan Simpson (112), Tyler Huston (119), Lamberto Paredes (160), Mike Schlup (215) and Wyatt Bailey (285).

The Chieftains return to the mat Saturday as they travel to Mendon for an invitational. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Niles wrestling

ST. JOSEPH — The Vikings split a pair of SMAC matches Wednesday night.

The No. 9-ranked (Division 2) Vikings defeated the host Bears 50-24 in a West Division match, while it fell to No. 9-ranked (Division 1) Battle Creek Lakeview 35-33.

Going 2-0 on the night for Niles were Jamison Zimmerman (112), Ryan Franco (135), Skylar Means (140/145), Javond Ball (140/145), Kade Wagley (152/160) and Caiden Smith (285).

The Vikings will travel to Portage Northern for a SMAC West Division match Wednesday.
