Niles goes 2-3 at Penn

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Arch rivals flexed their muscles at the annual Henry Wilk Classic on Saturday.
Mishawaka went 5-0 to win the annual super goals, while host Penn went 4-1 on the day.
The Cavemen defeated Springboro, Ohio (42-22), Niles (54-26), Fort Wayne Snider (54-24), Zionsville (53-25) and Huntington North (55-21) to win the championship.
Penn’s only loss came at the hands of Springboro 53-22. The Kingsmen defeated Edwardsburg 39-33.
The Eddies went 2-3 on the day, beating Huntington North (45-30), Jimtown (33-31) and Fort Wayne Snider (39-35). Springboro defeated Edwardsburg 68-9.
Jacob Reece and Caden Reece were both 4-1 on the day for the Eddies, while Caleb Fielder and Dillon Hursh were both 3-1.
Niles was 2-3 on the day.
The Vikings defeated Wabash (45-29) and Huntington North (48-27). Niles was defeated by Springboro (57-21) and Jimtown (45-33), as well as Mishawaka.
Jamison Zimmerman and Michael Robles were both 5-0 on the day. Ryan Franco, Javond Ball and Kade Wagley were all 4-1 for the Vikings.
Gull Lake Invitational
The Dowagiac wrestling team went 4-1 to finish second at the Gull Lake Invitational on Saturday.
The Chieftains (8-4) defeated Comstock 72-6, Michigan Center 54-21, Schoolcraft 59-24 and St. Joseph 51-18.
Battle Creek Harper Creek defeated the No. 9-ranked Chieftains 43-29 to win the team title.
Going undefeated on the day for the Chieftains were Wyatt Bailey (5-0), Jordan Simpson (5-0), Lamberto Paredes (4-0) and Deny White (4-0).
Posting 4-1 records were Alex McIntosh and Mike Schlup.
Burton Richards Tournament
EAU CLAIRE — Brandywine sent a limited number of wrestlers to Eau Claire on Saturday.
The Bobcats finished 12th in the tournament won by Kalamazoo Central.
Buchanan was the runner-up, and Cassopolis finished eighth.
The Bucks’ Zach Weaver was the champion at 119 pounds, and Cassopolis’ William Westphal was the champion at 130 pounds.
