Greta Whitaker is a senior on the Dowagiac girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
GW: Making varsity all four years for two of my favorite sports.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
GW: Losing my very first playoff hole at conference.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
GW: My family will always be my heroes, because they support me no matter what.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
GW: Right before the game starts.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
GW: Falling on the court all the time.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
GW: I spend time in the weight room.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
GW: Powerlifting.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
GW: It has taught me teamwork and respect.
How would you give away $50,000?
GW: I’d donate it to Toys for Tots.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
GW: I would coach a golf team, because that is the sport I love.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
GW: Be in a club or workout more.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
GW: Relaxing on defense.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
GW: More fouls.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
GW: I have a good attitude.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
GW: Going to state for golf. I am very glade I made it.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
GW: A girl shooting under par at state.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
GW: Going camping, because I get to spend time with my family and relax.
