EDWARDSBURG — The defending state champion Edwardsburg Eddies opened up postseason play with a 42-8 rout of visiting St. Joseph in Division 3 district semifinal action Friday night.
The Eddies, who have now won 24 consecutive football games, will travel to Zeeland West to play for the district championship at 7 p.m. Friday night.
In Division 8, host Cassopolis defeated White Pigeon 41-0 for the second time this season. The Rangers, who has won 26 straight regular-season football games, will travel to Reading to take on the Division 8 defending state champions. No time or date has been announced.
Brandywine and Dowagiac were both eliminated from the state playoffs Friday night.
The previously undefeated Bobcats were in search of the school’s first-ever playoff victory, but were defeated by visiting Constantine 58-8 in a Division 6 contest.
The Chieftains hit the road in Division 5 to face Hopkins. The Vikings scored the game’s first 22 points and then held on for a 29-14 win.
