Cassopolis splits games

CASSOPOLIS — The Cassopolis soccer and volleyball teams both split a pair of Southwest 10 Conference matches recently.

The Ranger soccer team was blanked by Hartford 4-0 on Oct. 25, but rebounded to defeat Eau Claire 4-0 last Thursday.

Against Eau Claire, Brett Williams scored a pair of goals, while Buster Ward and Steven Christopher also added goals.

The match was stopped at halftime as Eau Claire forfeited due to a lack of numbers.

Ryan Williams stopped the only shot he faced from the Beavers.

Cassopolis volleyball

The Ranger volleyball team was defeated by Bangor 3-2 in five sets last Thursday, but bounced back to sweep Decatur 3-0 Tuesday night.

The Vikings defeated the Rangers 25-20, 16-25, 25-23, 23-25 and 15-13. Cassopolis beat the Raiders 25-17, 25-23, 25-8.

Caitlyn Steensma had eight kills, three aces and 22 digs against the Vikings. Jadin Wolfe and Zaniya Dodd both finished with eight kills.

Against the Raiders, Dodd had a good night with five kills, three blocks and an ace. The Rangers also got three kills and seven digs from Steensma.

Gabby Rowan added a team-high 16 digs and 15 assists.
