CASSOPOLIS — The host Rangers blanked perennial state powerhouse Mendon 28-0 to improve to 2-0 in Southwest 10 Conference play Friday night.

Shutouts seemed to be a theme for the night as Dowagiac blanked visiting Three Rivers 35-0 in a Wolverine Conference clash as first-year head coach Randy Brooks picked up his first career victory.

Meanwhile, at Brandywine High School, the Bobcats routed Comstock 68-0 to move to 2-0 on the young season.

Buchanan and Niles were not as fortunate as the Bucks were edged by Fennville, who scored late to win 22-19.

The Vikings fell to 0-2 following a 55-7 loss at St. Joseph to the undefeated Bears.
