HARTFORD — Visiting Cassopolis wasted little time kicking off its 2019 season as the Rangers scored early and often in a 57-0 Southwest 10 Conference win over Hartford Thursday night.

Mason Polomcak scored three touchdowns for Cassopolis, which will host Mendon in a key conference battle at Williams F. Scott Field Friday night.

The Rangers (1-0) also got two touchdowns each from Owen Gardner and J.J. Hart, while Ahsan Hart scored the final touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Perennial powerhouse Mendon invades Cassopolis Friday night with its eyes on unseating the defending conference champion Rangers.

The Hornets are coming off a 14-7 victory over Decatur in their season opener last week.

The two teams have split the Southwest 10 Conference championships, with Mendon winning the inaugural title in 2017 after beating Cassopolis 34-24.

The Rangers went undefeated last season to take the league crown after beating the Hornets 44-6. Both teams went on to reach the state semifinals after winning the league championship.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
