DOWAGIAC — Groups of people created a line leading outside the door of Front Street Crossing in downtown Dowagiac, as they waited to get a sweet treat at the Cass County Council on Aging’s ice cream social. This is the seventh year, the Cass County COA has hosted the ice cream social at its Front Street location.
The event, which took place from 1 to 2 p.m., attracted a wide array of citizens from Dowagiac and outside areas. Friends shared conversation and employees of local businesses stood side by side COA staff to scoop multiple flavors of ice cream.
“The event has been great,” said Kelli Casey, the manager at the COA’s Front Street Crossing location.
Also in attendance were representatives of Honor Credit Union, who helped sponsor the event with a check for $175 to cover the cost of an assortment of ice cream and toppings.
