Niles’ Roe wins Ms. Senior Michigan title

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. — On July 17, Cathy Roe, of Niles, was crowned Ms. Senior Michigan at the Older Person’s Commission in Rochester Hills and will represent the state of Michigan in the Ms. Senior America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey in October.

Roe lives in Niles with her husband, Michael, and teaches dance and yoga at various studios, including Beyond Zen and Movement Made Beautiful.

Last year Roe sold her long time business, Cathy Roe’s Ultimate Dance Competitions, a National Dance Touring Company, and is now enjoying much more time in the Niles community.

She is the owner of Cathy Roe Productions Media, where she has produced more than 150 dance films featuring her choreography and teaching curriculums, which sell internationally. Her credentials include acting as dance director for the University of Hawaii-Hilo, choreographer for Hong Kong Television, owner of numerous dance studios, adjudicator for dance competitions, choreographer for musical theater productions and master teacher for many prestigious dance organizations.

Roe graduated summa cum laude from Western Michigan University with a bachelor of science in Dance Education. She has earned additional certifications in yoga, pilates, barre and zumba.

Finalists for the Ms. Senior Michigan pageant must be 60 years of age or older, display a talent, show poise and elegance in an evening dress, and provide a philosophy of life that reflects their beliefs and core values. A panel of judges interviews each finalist separately regarding their thoughts about current matters and important senior issues.
