BUCHANAN TOWNSHIP — At 8 p.m. Saturday, June 29, the Jason Arnold Memorial golf outing’s 104 participants teed off at Brookwood Golf Course. By the time the last foursome putted in, the group had raised more than $4,500 for college scholarships.

It was the most money raised and the highest turnout for the outing, said organizer Robert Blank, a close friend of Jason Arnold, who died from a fall.

The outing was marked by two major events, said other organizing staff.

First was the recognition of the 24 golfers who have attended the outing each year since its inception.

Second was the recognition of two area Class of 2019 graduates who each received a scholarship for college from the last outing’s fundraising.

Buchanan High School graduate Megan Adkerson and Niles High School graduate Alexis Stump each received $1,000 from event organizers.
