DOWAGIAC — Senior Dylan Elmore will continue his academic and athletic career at Davenport University after signing a national letter of intent recently.

Elmore, who was 59-16 this past wrestling season, set a new Chieftain single-season record for victories. He finished fifth at the Division 3 state finals at Ford Field in Detroit.

On his way to the finals, Elmore was a district champion and a regional runner-up. He also was the runner-up at the Wolverine Conference wrestling tournament at 119 pounds.

He helped Dowagiac to a third-place finish in the league.

Elmore also was named the MYWAY Referee of the Year and received a MYWAY scholarship.
