CASSOPOLIS — Hailey Harman, Cass County 4-H program coordinator is reminding all youth exhibitors to the Cass County Fair that the registration deadline is midnight June 17. New this year is the requirement that all youth registrations must be done online at blueribbonfair.com.
Anyone not having the ability to register at home is welcome to attend one of the help sessions that have been set, or to visit the MSU Extension office from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no need to call and make an appointment, Harman said.
“We realize the required online registration may be different for some of our youth, even though this will be the third year this system has been in place, so we have set help sessions where families can come and get completely registered,” Harman said.
Help sessions are scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. June 11 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 15. Both of these sessions will be hosted in the Gregarek Building at the Cass County Fairgrounds.
Youth showing as new members of a Cass County 4-H Club have to be enrolled in a club by May 31. Youth living within Cass County do not need to belong to a 4-H club in order to show at the Cass County Fair, but they do have to adhere to all the same rules and deadlines, which means those open youth must also register online.
Also due on June 17 are any pen reservation forms, which are available at the MSU Extension office or on the Cass County Fair website mycasscountyfair.com.
Complete instructions regarding the online registration are also available on the Cass County Fair website, as is the Cass County Fair book.
“Anyone wanting help filling out their livestock workbooks can attend one of the workshops being held May 30 or June 6 at the MSU Extension office starting at 6 p.m. Exhibitors should bring a 3-ring binder, vet records, feed bag information, photos and their creativity,” Harman said. “We are here to help youth meet this registration deadline, whether they are 4-H members or open youth. They just have to take the initiative to come see us; we are making every effort to be available for them.”
