Calley Ruff is a freshman on the Dowagiac softball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
CR: Making varsity as a freshman.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
CR: Not doing as well as I could have in a game.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
CR: My sister, because she proves that anything is possible.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
CR: When I am up to bat and I have a full count.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
CR: Falling when I got to first base.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
CR: I run sometimes.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
CR: Track.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
CR: Because you meet new people and it teaches you to work with others.
How would you give away $50,000?
CR: I would give it to Riley’s Children’s Hospital and Reins of Life.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
CR: The softball coach at Wester Michigan.

CR: Read more.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
CR: Staying positive when I am not doing my best.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
CR: The third strike on a bunt rule.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
CR: I give 100 percent in everything I do.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
CR: Switching over to left-handed hitting, and yes I am.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
CR: Playing sports, because it keeps me busy and I love sports.
