Dowagiac finishes fourth at jamboree

DOWAGIAC — After dropping its first Wolverine Conference jamboree of the season, Edwardsburg has rebounded to win three consecutive matches as they captured the Dowagiac Jamboree at Hampshire Country Club Friday.
The Eddies shot 164 to easily outdistance runner-up Allegan, which shot 180.
The host Chieftains finished fourth with a 183.
“We did not shoot well and Sturgis slipped in there for third place,” said Dowagiac coach Bob Turner.
Edwardsburg’s Satchel Pierce maintained his grasp on first place in the race to the conference medalist honor as he turned in a 39 to Hampshire.
The Eddies also got a pair of 40s from Brayden Bell and Garon Carrubba, while Cody Closson shot 45 and Joey Reiff 48 respectively.
Dowagiac was led by Dylan Elmore, who shot 43 on his home course.
The Chieftains also got a 45 from Matt Mosier, a 47 from Drew Phillips and a 48 from Drew Davis.
The Chieftains will host Marcellus in a non-conference match Tuesday before hosting the Wolverine Conference Tournament on Thursday at Hampshire Country Club.
