Russell Meyers Jr., 70, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formally of Niles, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2019, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1948, to Russell W. Meyers Sr. and Marjorie (Larson) Meyers.
He was a Graduate of Niles Senior High School Class of 1967. At the age of 19 he proudly served his country in Vietnam. Russell followed in his Grandfather and Father’s footsteps at French Paper Co. until 2006.
Russ was a Master Electrician and served as the Electrical Inspector for Howard Township for many years. In 2018, he became an ordained Minister, because it was important to him and his children that he perform their wedding ceremonies. Russ survived 17 years of marital bliss to Janet E. Pickens- Meyers, formerly of South Bend. Russ and Janet were married on June 8, 2001 in Niles. Russ is also survived by their five children, son Bill (Crystal) Molnar, of Sebastian, Florida, daughter Kristina (Larry) Morris, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, daughter Sarah (Scott) Kline, of Niles, son Stephen Molnar, of Fort Pierce, Florida and daughter Jessica (Charles) Howard, of South Bend. He adored their 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Russell is also survived by his three siblings, sisters; Corinne (Ron) Vanderboegh, Ann (Skip) Franz, and his brother, Duane (Pam) Meyers, all of Niles and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his father and mother along with brother In-law Ron Vanderboegh and son in-law Larry Morris. A celebration in honor of Russell’s life will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the Niles FOP, 600 N. State Street, Niles.
