NILES — The weather may have played havoc with most of the athletic calendar on Monday, but area soccer teams braved the elements.

In New Buffalo, the Cassopolis Rangers got back into the win column with a 3-0 victory over the Bison Monday night.

Host Brandywine dropped a 3-2 decision to Parchment after being Covert 3-1 on April 24.

In Three Rivers, Dowagiac dropped a 5-1 decision to the Wildcats in Wolverine Conference play, while Edwardsburg was shut out 8-0 by host Otsego in another league match.

Cassopolis soccer

Aysia Conley scored a pair of goals, while Angel Gary had a goal and two assists for the Rangers.

“We were glad that the weather cleared up and we were able to get this game in,” said Cassopolis coach Kevin Waldschmidt. “Our girls played well. We controlled the midfield better and moved the ball well around the field. Midfielders Katelyn Waldschmidt and Tristin Gless did a good job feeding the ball to the forwards. It felt good to get a win after the last couple tough games.”

Cassopolis outshot New Buffalo 17-2.

The Rangers are back in action on Friday when they travel to St. Joseph to face Lake Michigan Catholic.

Dowagiac soccer

Kellyn Daly scored her fourth goal in two matches, but it was not enough as host Three Rivers defeated the Chieftains 5-1.

“The girls started out nervous tonight and Three Rivers jumped on us right away,” said Dowagiac coach Chad Davis. “It took us to the middle of the first half to settle in and start playing, but by then we were down 4-1 at the half. I told the girls I was very proud of them the way they turn the second half around and played extremely hard for each other.”

The Chieftains managed just 10 shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Khloie Goins recorded 27 saves.

Dowagiac is now 3-4-2 overall and 0-3 in Wolverine Conference matches.

Edwardsburg soccer

Visiting Edwardsburg was blanked by Otsego 8-0 Monday night.

No further results were available at press time.

The Eddies are now 2-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
