Donald Edward Schoenleber, 93, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, with his family by his side.
Donald was born on March 5, 1926, in Milwaukee. He is preceded in death by his mother, Julia (Lukitsch) Schoenleber and his brother Alan Schoenleber.
Donald is survived by his wife of 66 years, Kathleen and their children; Keith (Kathy) Schoenleber, of Berrien Springs, Gary (Doris) Schoenleber, of Niles and Julie Schoenleber, of Niles, grandchildren; Brent (Tricha), Scott (Sarah), David and Michael, great-grandchildren; Allie, Abbie, Macy and Sadie.
Donald was a Terminal Manager for Citgo until his retirement in 1984.
Donald had honorably served in the U. S. Navy during WWII on the USS Hornet and again during the Korean War. He was a life member of the American Legion. He was also active in the Knights of Columbus. Don enjoyed spending winters in Florida where they had many special friends. He enjoyed boating, taking walks and reading the paper. He and Kathleen traveled all over the world. Donald was a Notre Dame football fan, he also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and the Cubs.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on May 8, 2019, at St. Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 219 S. State St. Niles, with calling from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
