Employee injured during robbery in Howard Township

HOWARD TOWNSHIP — Police are searching for three people accused of robbing Sunrise Liquor in Howard Township Tuesday evening, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
An employee, who was injured during the robbery, called police at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday. Upon arrival, the employee told deputies that three subjects with their faces covered entered the store, physically assaulted him and forced him to open the cash drawer before fleeing in an unknown direction.
The employee described the suspects as one medium build black male and two medium build black females. The Cass County K-9 unit located evidence related to the incident, but subjects were not located.
The employee was treated at the scene by Howard Township first responders and SMCAS Ambulance, and then went to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment.
Michigan State Police, Niles City Police and the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team assisted in investigating the robbery. The investigation remains open.
