THREE RIVERS — The Dowagiac tennis team dropped its second straight match, but the Chieftains were much more competitive against host Three Rivers Monday.

Dowagiac lost to the Wildcats 7-1 in Wolverine Conference action.

Maddison Hill picked up the lone victory for the Chieftains as she defeated Kyre Haseman 6-1 and 6-1.

After dropping nearly every game in its season opener, Dowagiac showed its resolve Monday afternoon by forcing two of the four doubles flights to go three sets.

In JV matches, Blake Juroff-Eichel and Malina Holz defeated Asaka Suzuki and Anna Ives 8-2, while Aubry Hazlegrove and Scout Hunsberger defeated Cora Bacon and Levi Lundquist 8-1.
