Lake Michigan College freshman Bibbs first team All-American

BENTON HARBOR — Former Brandywine standout Jayla Bibbs, a freshman at Lake Michigan College, has been named first team NJCAA All-American.
Bibbs averaged 16.6 points per game for the Red Hawks to go along with 10.7 rebounds, 5.6 steals and 3.8 assists per game.
Lake Michigan College went 28-7 overall and 16-2 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s Western Conference.
The Red Hawks won the Western Conference championship outright for the first time since 1997 and the MCCAA state championship, its their first since 2001.
They also won the Regoin XII District G title to qualified for the NJCAA national tournament and finished with a No. 20 overall ranking.
Bibbs also earned Women’s Basketball Coaches Association honorable mention All-American for two-year colleges, NJCAA Region XII Division II, Region XII District G All-Tournament team, MCCAA All-Western Conference, All-Defensive team and All-Freshman team.
Bibbs led the NJCAA Division II in steals, was fourth in offensive rebounds, 15th in total rebounds and 19th in field goals.
Since 2014, LMC has had two other players named NJCAA All-American.
Former Buchanan teammate Jade Mosier, who was third-team in 2018, and Hailey Maas, who was second-team in 2017 and third-team in 2016.
