Dowagiac, Edwardsburg swept

DOWAGIAC — Visiting Otsego took advantage of the wind blowing at Dowagiac to sweep a Wolverine Conference non-divisional doubleheader that featured six home runs Friday.

The Bulldogs had four of those home runs, including a pair of two-run shots in Otsego’s 15-11 win in the first game.

Two more solo home runs in the nightcap propelled the Bulldogs to an 11-7 win and the sweep.

Dowagiac (3-8) had three extra base hits in the first game, including home runs by Jessie Hulett and Greta Whitaker. Amiyah Smith doubled off the top of Dowagiac’s 10-foot high fence.

Jessie Hulett took the loss for the Chieftains in the opener.

In the nightcap, Smith had two more doubles, while Sierra Carpenter, who was the losing pitcher, also doubled.

Lakeshore Invitational

STEVENSVILLE — Edwardsburg went 0-3 at Lakeshore High School Saturday.

The Eddies lost to Caledonia 2-1, Crown Point 7-2 and host Lakeshore 11-3.

Kaitlynne Allen had a double for Edwardsburg against Caledonia.

Ella Castelucci doubled against Crown point, while Alyssa Gearhart had a double in the loss to the Lancers.

Edwardsburg is now 6-5.
