NILES — Visiting Dowagiac picked up that elusive win against Brandywine Thursday night.

The Chieftains edged the Bobcats, who is also looking for its first win of the season, 2-1.

Scoring for the Chieftains were Cellna Koetter and Martha Schaller.

“I thought the girls did a great job of moving the ball tonight,” said Dowagiac coach Chad Davis. “We played 90 percent offense and ended up with 23 shots on goal.”

Khiole Goins had four saves for Dowagiac.
