Brandywine baseball splits pair; softball sweeps

NILES — The Brandywine baseball team split a pair of games at its round robin on Saturday.
The Bobcats dropped a 12-1 decision to Mishawaka in the first game, but rebounded to edge Watervliet 15-13.
Against the Panthers, Brandywine finished with 13 hits, led by Jakob Luczkowski and Connor Janowiak, who were 3-for-3 and 3-for-5 respectively.
Luczkowski had three triples and drove in five runs, while Janowiak drove in four runs.
Gabe Gouin singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs.
The Bobcats are now 5-1 on the season.
Brandywine softball
The Bobcats improved to 4-0 with a sweep of Michigan Lutheran Thursday.
Brandywine defeated the Titans 11-1 and 10-0.
In the first game, the Bobcats had 12 hits, led by Delani Nelson’s home run. Brandywine also got doubles from Nicole Sachman and Haley Scott.
In the nightcap, Kenney Byrd, who was the winning pitcher in the first game, homered for Brandywine.
Scott was the winning pitcher in the second game.
Both teams host Bridgman in BCS Athletic Conference Red Division doubleheader Tuesday.
