One treated at scene after single vehicle crash on M-40

PORTER TOWNSHIP — Sheriff Richard Behnke reported that at approximately 1:29 p.m. on March 17, his deputies were called to a single vehicle traffic crash on M-40 south near Spatterdock Lake Street in Porter Township.
Randy Wilson Riley, 63, was northbound on M-40 when his vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Riley was treated at scene and transported to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries.
A seatbelt was worn and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash. The traffic crash is still being investigated.
Also assisting at the scene was Newburg Fire and EMS.
