Vikings fall to Lakeview

BATTLE CREEK — The Niles girls basketball team dropped a 52-40 SMAC non-divisional decision to host Battle Creek Lakeview Tuesday night.

Niles (8-8) trailed 10-5 after one quarter and 27-19 by halftime.

Lakeview outscored the Vikings 15-9 in the third quarter to put the game away.

Alycia Patterson had 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists for Niles, which also got 10 points from Amara Palmer, to go along with four rebounds and three steals. Alexis Rauch added five points and nine rebounds.

Aynlee Myer finished with eight points.

The Vikings travel to Stevensville to take on Lakeshore at 5:45 p.m. Friday.

Boys basketball

BATTLE CREEK — The Niles boys basketball team dropped its 13th consecutive contest as host Battle Creek Lakeview scored a 58-42 SMAC non-divisional victory Tuesday night.

Niles (2-14) grabbed the early 18-15 lead after one quarter, but was outscored 13-4 by Lakeview in the second quarter as it took a 28-22 advantage at halftime.

Niles was outscored 30-20 in the second half.

Kendall Chrismon led the Vikings with 10 points, while Jordon Brown and Da’Quan McClean both finished with eight points.

Ethan Alkire added seven.

Niles wraps up the regular season on Friday when it travels to Stevensville for a SMAC West Division contest against Lakeshore.

Tipoff is set for approximately 7 p.m.
