DOWAGIAC — While the average person will spend Valentine’s Day snuggled up with a loved one, local businesses will spend the day in a mad rush to fill orders and help others make their romantic dreams come true.
One such business is Booth’s Country Florist, 111 Commercial St., Dowagiac. According to owner Patty Booth, Valentine’s Day is the single busiest day of the year for the flower shop, as many order flowers for their valentines. Altogether, the store delivers more than 100 orders on Valentine’s Day, with many more carry out orders. To prepare for the day, Booth said shop workers have spent the last few days arranging flowers and filling orders.
Though many have already ordered their Valentine’s arrangements, Booth said the flower shop will be open starting at 8 a.m. today to accommodate last-minute shoppers. However, she recommended that people come in early to buy arrangements as the store has been known to sell out of roses on Valentine’s Day.
