CASSOPOLIS — The Cass County Conservation District and the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program recently announced the presentation of a soil fertility workshop, given by A&L Great Lakes Laboratories.

The workshop will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, March 14 at Mosier Well Drilling, 21867 M-60 E., Cassopolis. The workshop will include a free lunch, though donations are accepted.

The workshop will be presented and facilitated by David Henry. Henry has been an agronomist with A&L Great Lakes since 2014 and has earned a bachelor’s in environmental science and a master’s in soil science, both from the Ohio State University. Henry also is a certified crop advisor, bringing a diverse set of expertise in agricultural systems to A&L.

A&L laboratories has become a premier resource for accurate testing using the latest technologies and analytic capabilities, according to event organizers. Testing includes a wide variety of sample matrices including soils, plants, feed, fertilizer, manures and composts.

The program will count as a phase one credit towards verification in the MAEAP program, a statewide program facilitated through county conservation districts designed to reduce and eliminate potential environmental risks on farmsteads, and in cropping, livestock and forestry operations.
