Conservation District to host sixth annual squirrel hunt

DOWAGIAC — An annual event for squirrel hunters will be taking place later this month in Dowagiac.
The sixth annual Hunter’s Rendezvous Squirrel Hunt is planned to be hosted starting at 7:45 a.m. Jan. 27 with a mandatory meeting of all participants at the Dowagiac Conservation Club. The club is located just north of Dowagiac on M-51 N.
The hunt is a two-person team event with an entry fee of $20 per team. There is a 10-squirrel limit, and the total weight determines winners. There will be payback in cash and prizes based on the number of entries.
Following the hunt, weigh-in will be at 4 p.m. sharp at the Dowagiac Conservation Club. Late arrivals will be disqualified. Statewide hunting with all applicable Michigan hunting rules and regulations to be followed. This is a rimfire rifle or hand gun event. No shotguns will be allowed except for youths 14 and under. No dogs are allowed.
Prior to the hunt, breakfast will be available at 7 a.m. for a cost of $7.
