D.J. Lanier is a junior on the Dowagiac boys basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
DJ: So far, making it to the regional championship.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
DJ: Losing to Benton Harbor.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
DJ: My brother. He keeps me going.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
DJ: Never.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
DJ: Missing a wide-open dunk.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
DJ: I work on my shot a lot and my finishing at the rim.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
DJ: Track.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
DJ: It is my way out.
How would you give away $50,000?
DJ: I would give it to the less fortunate.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
DJ: The Golden State Warriors.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
DJ: Be somewhere in the criminal justice field.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
DJ: Traveling.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
DJ: You have the talent.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
DJ: Catch a squirrel in my house.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
DJ: Basketball. I clears my mind.

DJ: Unpredictable.
