Amara Palmer is a freshman on the Niles girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
AP: One of my greatest accomplishments as an athlete is hitting a buzzer-beater.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
AP: Getting hurt last year and missing several games.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
AP: My mom is my hero, because she is always there for me.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
AP: I am most nervous when a lot of my family and friends come to watch me.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
AP: An embarrassing athletic moment was when I tripped and fell over my own foot.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
AP: If I didn’t play basketball I would play volleyball.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
AP: It teaches you how to be a leader.
How would you give away $50,000?
AP: I would give it to foster care.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
AP: I would choose Notre Dame.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
AP: I would sleep all day.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
AP: Stay low while playing defense.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
AP: I am a good basketball player.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
AP: I went on the fastest roller coaster at Cedar Point, and it was fun.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
AP: Someone crossed between their legs for a layup.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
AP: Basketball, because it is fun.
