CASSOPOLIS — The Cassopolis volleyball team was eliminated by Southwest 10 Conference foe Centreville 3-0 in the Division 4 district tournament at Marcellus Oct. 31.
The Rangers were defeated by the Bulldogs 25-23, 25-12 and 25-19.
“I am so proud of my team and how well we did this season,” said Cassopolis coach Demi Schrader. “We ended up 25-9-1 and won two tournaments. The girls set team goals and personal goals this year and we accomplished many of them.”
Maile Barber had a big night for Cassopolis with eight kills, three blocks and a pair of aces, while Sophie Fiala finished with six kills and four blocks.
Lynzee Armstrong led the team in digs with 15. Olivia Purlee added seven and Taylor Herwock five.
“Our six seniors played a big part in our success,” Schrader said. “They all worked extremely hard and stepped up as leaders. I couldn’t be happier with the way this season went.”
Division 2
EDWARDSBURG — Defending district champion Edwardsburg swept Niles to capture the Division 2 championship and earn a spot in the regional tournament at Vicksburg.
The Eddies defeated the Vikings 25-17, 25-21 and 25-19. Edwardsburg reached the finals with a 25-13, 25-11 and 25-12 win over Vicksburg in the semifinals.
“I cannot stop smiling,” said Edwardsburg coach Sarah Strefling. “I wanted these girls to bring energy and that is what they did. I keep telling them that every time they step in here they need to fight to win. They are not entitled to a victory. We played great tonight.”
