Loren Joe Van Lue, 92, a resident of Niles, passed away at 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 4, 2018 in the Center for Hospice in South Bend.
Joe was born on Sept. 15, 1926, in Niles, to the late, William and Helene (Stick) Van Lue.
On Sept. 20, 1947, in Niles, Joe married Irene Elizabeth (Freese) and she passed away on Nov. 18, 2012. Joe was also preceded in death by brothers, Jack, Jim, Jerry, and Mike Van Lue.
Joe is survived by daughters, Susan (James) Cook, Jackie (Paul) Franklin, and Judy (Ed) Mullis; brothers, Dr. William (Joan) Van Lue, and Larry (Sally) Van Lue; grandson, Andrew (Julie) Cook; and great-grandson, Logan Cook.
Joe honorably served his country as a U.S. Marine during World War II.
He was a graduate of Niles High School in 1944 and retired as an electrician from the rail road. He enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool with his friends. He loved spending time playing golf and working in his workshop. Joe will be greatly missed by his many friends and family and would want you all to celebrate with a cold one in his memory. Joe requested that he be cremated, and no services will take place at this time. Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St., Niles is assisting the family with arrangements.
