Little, Leman run to all-state honors

BROOKLYN — Dowagiac’s Shawn Little and Edwardsburg’s Jack Leman both ran to all-state honors as the MHSAA Division 2 state cross country championships at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on Saturday.
Little, a junior, finished 17th overall with a time of 16:22, while Leman, also a junior, finished 23rd with a time of 16:26.
The top 30 runners earn all-state honors.
Wolverine conference foe Alex Comerford of Otsego was the individual champion with a time of 15:23.6.
Niles junior Adam Shepherd finished 98th overall with a time of 17:09.
In the Division 2 girls race, Niles junior Kaylee Thompson finished 71st with a time of 19:58.
Jaden Theis of Lansing Catholic was the individual champion with a time of 18:01.
Buchanan’s Walker Barz finished 41st and Brandywine’s Bryce McLane 188th respectively in the Division 3 boys race.
Barz posted a time of 17:10 and McLane 18:47.
Yami Albrecht of Caro was the individual winner with a time of 15:40.
Cassopolis’ Lauren Anderson placed 142nd in the Division 4 girls race with a time of 23:00.
Buster Ward of Cassopolis finished 148th in the boys race. He ran a time of 18:55.
Muskegon Western Michigan Christian’s Abby VqnderKooi won the title with a 17:47, while Saugatuck’s Corey Gorgas was the boys champion with a clocking of 15:33.
