EDWARSBURG — There were three undefeated teams atop the Wolverine Conference volleyball standings heading into last Thursday night’s matches.
When the smoke cleared, only Edwardsburg and Vicksburg were left standing.
The Eddies disposed of previously undefeated Three Rivers in short order, winning 25-16, 25-11 and 25-11.
The win improved the Eddies to 22-5 overall and 6-0 in conference play.
Edwardsburg travels to Vicksburg tonight to play the undefeated Bulldogs for the regular season title.
“What it took to beat Three Rivers was the ability of the seniors stepping up to the task,” said Edwardsburg coach Sarah Strefling. “We had a great crowd, and it was a wonderful night for seniors and our defense stood out making it look easy.”
So what will it take to knock off Vicksburg?
“Vicksburg is this week and we need to step up again,” she said. “Emotions are always high during this match, and we are playing at their place so we have to get use to their environment. Also, I haven’t seen Vicksburg, so I have to see what they have when I get there.”
