Search warrant leads to firearms, drug arrests

ONTWA TOWNSHIP — Two men were arrested on Saturday and charged with possession of methamphetamine, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm charges, being a felon in possession of ammunition, carry concealed weapon violations and possession of brass knuckle.
Chief Douglas Westrick of the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department reported that officers investigated a complaint that a felon was in the possession of firearms and drugs.
Through information obtained officers were able to obtain a search warrant and execute that in the 70000 block of Fillmore Ave. in Ontwa Township. Officers recovered 13 firearms to include 12 long guns, one pistol as well as methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Two male suspects were arrested and lodged at the Cass County Jail. The names of the suspects are being withheld pending arraignment.
The Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Michigan State Police Special Response Unit, Edwardsburg Ambulance, Life Care Ambulance and the Cass County Sheriff Department.
