ALLEGAN — For the second straight week, Dowagiac was held scoreless in the opening quarter of a Wolverine Conference football game.

And for a second straight week, a 22-point second quarter proved to be the difference.

The Chieftains were on the right side of the scoring barrage this time on their way to a 55-0 win over host Allegan and a 2-1 start to the 2018 season.

Kade Schreiber scored a pair of touchdowns for Dowagiac as he gained 109 yards on nine carries. It was the second time in three games that the senior has rushed for more than 100 yards and scored multiple touchdowns.

Schreiber scored on runs of 15 and 65 yards.

Dowagiac also got 81 yards rushing and a touchdown run from quarterback Cailyn Murphy. Murphy was also 5-of-11 for 25 yards and a touchdown.

Alex McIntosh hauled in the 10-yard touchdown pass as he led the Chieftains in receptions with three for 45 yards.

Hunter Williamson got Dowagiac on the scoreboard in the second quarter with a two-yard run.

Also scoring for the Chieftains were Duan Simpson on an eight-yard run and Dashawn Brooks on a six-yard run.

Dylan Hill returned a fumble 20 yards for the final Dowagiac touchdown.

Hill finished with six tackles.

Lamberto Paredes led the Chieftains with seven tackles and a sack. Andrew McIntosh had an interception, while Gabe Green also had a fumble recovery.
