NILES — On Sept. 9, the Portage Prairie United Methodist Church, will host their 10th Annual Heritage Sunday starting at 9:15 a.m. at 2450 Orange Road in Niles. 

The community is invited to bring a tractor or vintage car and join a parade which will begin at 9:15 a.m., followed by a service at 10 a.m.

This is the time that congregants remember the heritage of the church, which was founded in 1851. The traditional parade of old and new tractors and vintage cars to the church helps to celebrate, along with the worship service under the tent. 

The special music this year will be provided by Living Truth 2, a husband and wife who bring all types of antique musical instruments with them. There will be a potluck following the service and those who attend are asked to bring a dish to pass (meat, beverages, plates and utensils will be provided).  After lunch, there will be games for all ages. There is also a golf outing at Brookwood Golf course in Buchanan on Saturday Sept 8.  Proceeds from this outing will be given to UMCOR.  For further information call (269) 695-6708.
