Larry Joe Goodger, 61, of Vandalia, died peacefully Sunday evening, Aug. 19, 2018, in the comfort of his mother’s residence.

He was born May 15, 1957, in Ferriday, Louisiana, the fourth of nine children born to Joseph and Geneva Goodger.

Larry was a kind and genuine person, always willing to help someone out. He was a simple man who lived for his family and loved ones. Larry was a great father and grandfather. He called his granddaughters every day if only to say “Hi.”

Larry will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Geneva Goodger, of Vandalia; two sons, David (Erika) Goodger, of Constantine, Adam Goodger, of White Pigeon; two granddaughters, Jadyn Goodger, Ashlynn Goodger; five sisters, Rose Will, of Cassopolis, Cindy Roland, of Vandalia, Peggy Payne, of Niles, Molly (Joe) Crowell, of Edwardsburg, Elizabeth Webb, of George, Washington; four brothers, Ron (Debra) Goodger, of Cassopolis, Jessie Goodger, of Edwardsburg, twins, Terry (Evelyn) Goodger, of Cassopolis and Jerry Goodger, of Vandalia; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Goodger.

Family and friends will gather from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, for a time of sharing memories and telling stories in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway St., Cassopolis.

The family prefers contributions in Larry’s memory to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals of Southwest Michigan, 6955 West KL Avenue, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009.
