Second Baptist Church to host Hallelujah Party
DOWAGIAC — Second Baptist Church will host a Hallelujah Party at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the church 203 Paul St.in Dowagiac. There will be music and Minister Charlotte (Murray) McCord will be in attendance. The public is welcome to attend and celebrate the church’s 151st anniversary.
Additionally, at 10:45 a.m. Aug. 26, Minister Carla Murray will present the sermon during morning worship. Later that evening, at 3 p.m. Rev. Bryant Bacon, the pastor of Mt. Calvary Church in Niles, will present the afternoon message.

Rollover vehicle crash in Wayne Township
DOWAGIAC — A rollover crash occurred on Marcellus Highway near Sunset Drive in Wayne Township on Sunday night.
Upon arrival deputies found that the driver, a 17-year-old female resident of Dowagiac, had managed to exit the wreckage, according to Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke. She said that she was traveling west on Marcellus Highway and had approached a curve too fast. After running off the roadway, her vehicle struck a dirt embankment, she lost control and the vehicle rolled over.
She was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for her injuries. Speed was a factor and seat belts were used. This traffic crash remains under investigation.
Cass County deputies were assisted by the Dowagiac Police Department, Pokagon Tribal Police, Pride Care Ambulance and Wayne Township Fire.
Fire department to host pancake breakfast
The Indian Lake Volunteer Fire Department will host an all you-can-eat-pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday Sept. 2, at the fire house, 33104 M-62 West, Dowagiac. The cost is $6 for adults and half price for children. Breakfast includes unlimited pancakes, sausage, juice, milk, and coffee. Carry-out will be available. Luminaries will be available for purchase.
